Moths Back to Target Insect

tignolaThe term Moth is a common name of Lepidoptera pests of various foodstuffs. In reality this encompasses species with the most varied behaviour and habits. Generally the Indian Meal Moth (Plodia interpunctella), the Grey Moth (Ephestia kuehniella) and many other species, are passively introduced into storage centres and raw material processing rooms with the goods. These insects perceive the smells of food with their antennae and then enter the premises through cracks.

The Indian Meal Moth preferably attacks wheat, flour, pasta and dried fruit, releasing sericea saliva on the substrate (larval stage). The grey moth is a common pest in mills having as preference for flour or semolina..
